Background
IOHK, the innovative blockchain research and development company, is widely recognized as the creator and driving force behind Cardano ($ADA), one of the top 10 largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, and Ethereum Classic ($ETC), a currency born from an Ethereum fork in 2015.
IOHK's problem and Eleven's solution
IOHK faced intricate documentation needs for their projects, requiring the expertise of a highly specialized technical writer with decades of experience across multiple programming languages.
We were approached by IOHK on 6th October 2020, and on 7th October 2020 we provided our solution: Neil, a highly seasoned technical writer from the Eleven team. With 40+ years of technology management and software development leadership experience, and with a recent focus on blockchain technology, we were confident Neil would be an excellent candidate.
We made the connection and were thrilled when IOHK confirmed their interest in Neil and when Neil confirmed he was equally as excited by the opportunity. After some simple paperwork and a swift onboarding, Neil began working directly with IOHK in January 2021 and continues to work on IOHK's Ethereum Classic project at the current time of writing (November 2023, 2 years and 10 months later).
Neil's Expertise
Neil brought a wealth of experience to his role at IOHK:
- Over 40 years of senior software development experience
- Proficiency in more than 10 popular programming languages
- Led the development team responsible for McDonald’s Corporation’s point-of-sale software
- Holds an MBA in Technology Management
- Worked in senior development roles at Fujitsu for over 30 years
The Results
Neil seamlessly integrated into the IOHK team, working full-time for 2 years and 10 months with IOHK at the time of writing and still going. His ability to adapt to IOHK's complex needs and his dedication to delivering high-quality technical documentation proved instrumental in the success of the collaboration.
Client Testimonial
“Neil is a valuable team member. He has learned a great deal of knowledge on the blockchain industry and particularly on Ethereum-based chains. His cooperation with the Marketing and communications team is aligned. He is also very flexible on working hours, as the majority of the team is Europe-based, given the timezone difference. He adapted his working hours to be present during the key meetings with the ETC Mantis team. He is detail-oriented.” - David Rosales, IOHK
Ongoing Contribution
After 2 years and 10 months (the collaboration began in January 2021), Neil continues to work with IOHK, providing technical documentation for the Ethereum Classic and Cardano projects. His in-depth understanding of blockchain technology, coupled with his vast experience, makes him an invaluable asset to IOHK's vast documentation projects.
